Former Vice president Atiku Abubakar and presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has warned Vice President Yemi Osinbajo against attempts to distort history for political expediency.

Atiku said this in reaction to Osinbajo’s comments on restructuring.

Osinbajo had fired the first salvo on Saturday, at the University of Ibadan, where he spoke at the ninth public lecture of Sigma Club, when he said some of those clamouring for restructuring were those who opposed his and others efforts years back when they were in government.

“Let me explain my position clearly. I am not just an advocate of restructuring, there is no other government in Nigeria that has actively pursued restructuring such as we did when I was Attorney General in Lagos State.

“People talking about restructuring, if you ask them what they meant by restructuring, they won’t even know what…

“Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant?” — Num_11:11

Our heavenly Father often allows frequent troubles to try our faith. If our faith be worth anything, it will stand the test.

Gilt is afraid of fire, but gold is not: the paste gem dreads to be touched by the diamond, but the true jewel fears no test. It is a poor faith which can only trust God when friends are true, the body full of health, and the business profitable; but that is true faith which holds by the Lord’s faithfulness when friends are gone, when the body is sick, when spirits are depressed, and the light of our Father’s countenance is hidden. A faith which can say, in the direst trouble, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him,” is heaven-born faith.

When the Scriptures say “tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope,” the Lord is honoured by these growing virtues.

We should never know the music of the harp if the strings were left untouched; nor enjoy the juice of the grape if it were not trodden in the winepress; nor discover the sweet perfume of cinnamon if it were not pressed and beaten; nor feel the warmth of fire if the coals were not utterly consumed.

The wisdom and power of the great Workman are discovered by the trials through which his vessels of mercy are permitted to pass.

Present afflictions tend also to heighten future joy. There must be shades in the picture to bring out the beauty of the lights. Could we be so supremely blessed in heaven, if we had not known the curse of sin and the sorrow of earth? Will not peace be sweeter after conflict, and rest more welcome after toil? Will not the recollection of past sufferings enhance the bliss of the glorified? let us muse upon this thought all day long.

Pastor Blasts Supreme Court’s Gay Wedding Cake Case In Unhinged Rant

Curtis M. Wong

,

HuffPost

A conservative pastor known for producing controversial Facebook videos is back with a blistering defense of Christian businesses who turn away same-sex couples.

Pastor Greg Locke of Tennessee’s Global Vision Bible Church tackled the case of Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission in a jaw-dropping clip posted to Facebook Dec. 6, a day after the Supreme Court began hearing arguments. The ruling, which is expected in spring 2018, will determine whether or not baker Jack Phillips was illegally discriminating against a same-sex couple or just exercising his right to religious freedom when he refused to create a cake for a wedding ceremony he viewed as sacrilegious.

No stranger to controversial declarations, Locke made it clear he was very much on Masterpiece Cakeshop’s side, saying the case is “an absolute, positive target” on “evangelicals with actual convictions.”

“The LGBTABCDEFG – whatever the foolish acronym is at this particular point ― they’ve gone overboard. They have fake outrage, selective drama,” he says in the clip, which can be viewed above. “Why don’t they get up and go try that nonsense at a Muslim bakery? See if they get their tails thrown out in the street and see what happens then. They wouldn’t be suing them.”

He continues, “I don’t really give the flip of a wooden nickel who you have sex with,” he says. “But I do care when you cram it down my kid’s throats in public school. I do care when every sitcom, every late night talk show host, every comedian, every song, every movie coming out has to push, push, push, push, push, push the agenda.”

The Facebook version of Locke’s video had received over 706,000 views as of Sunday afternoon. On YouTube, the clip had been viewed an additional 2,600 times.

Viewers, however, were divided on Locke’s stance. Though some accused him of “spitting venom” and being an “ignorant hypocritical bigot,” others defended the pastor’s take.

“If the homosexuals want same-sex marriage cakes for their wedding then they need to learn how to start baking,” one person on Facebook wrote. “I wish somebody would try to tell me what I can and can’t do with my own business that I started that I built.”

The Global Vision Bible Church didn’t respond to a HuffPost request for comment on Locke’s latest viral video.

Locke, of course, has been making headlines for some time. In 2016, he blasted Target’s transgender-inclusive bathroom policyaccusing the retail giant of bowing to “perverts [and] pedophiles” who “are going to hurt our children” in a video that received over 18 million views on Facebook and 152,000 views on YouTube.

His rants, however, occasionally backfire. In February, Locke’s opposition to Planned Parenthood prompted a Los Angeles man to launch an online fundraiserin the pastor’s name, which ended up generating over $3,000 in donations for… Planned Parenthood.

Justin Bieber Not Ashamed of His Savior, Tells 89 Million Followers: ‘His name is JESUS!!’

07-12-2017

Pop star Justin Bieber is unashamed of Jesus.

“Let the devil know NOT TODAY!” Bieber said, quoting Hillsong United’s song “Not Today” in an Instagram post to his 89.5 million followers on Monday. “The devil has no power when you know the LIVING God! His name is JESUS!! Why worry when you can worship,” he also wrote.

In past years, Bieber has gotten himself into trouble for his behavior – vandalism, drag racing, and smoking marijuana to name a few of his acts.

But his change in word and deed, and his openness about sharing his faith, is welcomed by many.

“I look back at a lot of things in my life, mistakes, insecurities, and although I have felt I’ve wasted a lot of time it also makes me want to be better faster! For me personally I want to work every day to be BETTER AT 70,” he said about a new tattoo in an Instagram post this past June.

In 2015 May, he told Complex Magazine “I just wanna honestly live like Jesus.”

That same year, Bieber was baptized in a bathtub after falling to his knees and saying he wanted to better understand Christ, according to Carl Lentz.

Lentz, the pastor of Hillsong Church NYC, says Bieber is progressing well.

“His relationship with Jesus is changing his life daily. It is one of those things where you never really get it, it takes a while to keep growing as a person,” Lentz told Sunrise. “Every day he is getting older, and with each chapter comes new growth.”

This is Bieber’s latest Insta post with Lentz.

Pastor Judah Smith of The City Church praises Bieber for giving himself to Jesus.

“What I witnessed last night as I watched my friend and brother for life @justinbieber completely give himself to the gift God has given him and lift people’s souls was nothing short of astounding,” wrote Smith in a recent Instagram Post. “Justin I love you, thank you for fighting for your faith and taking the risk of relationship! Let’s get better every day and when we are 70 years old let’s be kind, sweet, devoted men who look like Jesus.”

Just last month, Bieber talked about faith in God to an audience in Manchester, England, where a bomb killed 22 people at an Ariana Grande Concert in city May.

“God is good in the midst of the darkness, God is good in the midst of the evil, God is in the midst no matter what is happening in the world God is in the midst, and he loves you and he’s here for you,” Bieber told the crowd.

Hillsong Denies Claims They Are Behind Bieber’s Decision to Cut World Tour

07-26-2017

Like so many, I have long admired the endless talents of Justin Bieber. I am a “Belieber.” But these days, his every move sparks reactions from fans and critics alike.

The latest “Bieber Buzz” is about exactly why the pop star pulled the plug on the remaining 14 stops of his Purpose tour.

Hillsong Church is clearing up the rumors they influenced the singer in his decision.

“The recent announcement by Justin Bieber about (the cancellation of) his tour does not involve Hillsong Church,” a Hillsong spokesperson told Daily Mail. “We wish Justin the best for his future.”

Bieber was recently in Australia attending the annual Hillsong Church conference in Sydney.

Australian media host Richard Wilkins claimed the reason Bieber canceled the tour was to “reconnect with his faith”.

“I am led to believe that the real reason he has come off the road is because he wants to reconnect with his faith and he may be even planning to start his own church,” Wilkins said.

Bieber has been on tour for the last two years. And when a TMZ crew caught him near the beach in Santa Monica Monday, he said he was “just resting, getting some relaxation.”

Justin Bieber Not Ashamed of His Savior, Tells 89 Million Followers:
‘His name is JESUS!!’

‘God Is Good in the Midst of Evil!’

He also told fans, “I love you guys. You guys are awesome. I am sorry for anybody who feels disappointed or betrayed. It’s not my heart or anything. And have a blessed day.”

Bieber says he needs rest. But that has not quieted the speculation about the many other possible reasons why he has ended the tour.

TMZ quotes sources connected to Hillsong Church who say Justin ended the world music run because he “rededicated his life to Christ.”

A European media outlet even claims Bieber is trading the music business to start his own church. But a new TMZ video shows the paparazzi asking Bieber if he “cancelled the tour for religious reasons.” Beiber says “No.”

While I strongly doubt young Justin is looking to start a congregation of “Beliebers,” I do believe his personal faith walk is a significant part of why he walked away from the tour. And the proof may just be on Twitter and Instagram.

Many of Bieber’s most recent social media posts display him hanging out with his popular pastors Carl Lentz from Hillsong New York and Judah Smith from City Church in Seattle.

We’ve also seen Justin Bieber rocking out at Hillsong Young and Free concerts.

He recently shared a post, declaring the Christian band’s single “Falling Into You” as his favorite. Band member Melodie Wagner is the lead soloist on that song.

Reacting to Bieber’s love for the band, Wagner told me, “I think it is really cool that someone as influential as him is making a stand for Jesus. And the fact that he is listening to worship music and he can use his platform to get the message out about Jesus and who he is and what he has done is just an honor.”

We have seen signs of a changing Bieber for more than a year, as his Purpose tour traveled the world.

In a year-old interview with Complex Magazine, he said, “My faith has gotten me to where I am. My faith has brought me to a whole other level. I love talking about my faith.”

“I just wanna honestly live like Jesus,” he said. “Not be Jesus — I could never — I don’t want that to come across weird. He created a pretty awesome template of how to love people and how to be gracious and kind.”

Ending the tour may just be Bieber’s latest way of following that “pretty awesome template.” Like so many, I will be watching — and praying — for his next move.

10 Lies Pop Culture Teaches About Sex

Tuesday, August 1, 2017 | Written by

Right or wrong, our culture teaches us about sex. The media conducts sex education all the time.” –Stephen Witmer

Pop culture is a powerful force in society, as it colors our views of social issues, people, relationships, and sexual activity. What we see, read, and hear through the media influences our worldview on these important matters. We need an internal filter, moral compass, and high esteem of God’s word if we are to live rightly and thrive in our relational and sexual lives.

Sex is a topic that we would all do well to treat with care, being intentional to not swallow whole the ideas put forth by the culture. Lies can be found in excess through a secular view of sexuality. How most entertainment presents sexuality cannot do justice to such a profound and meaningful act. Here are ten lies pop culture teaches about sex.
10 Lies Pop Culture Teaches About Sex

1. It can be had any time, with any one, in any place, in any context, without repercussions.

Living contrary to God’s word is treading unstable and dangerous ground. Sex ordained by God has specific boundaries that are not to be crossed. To overstep these needed boundaries is to risk an influx of consequences. The consequences can kill your spiritual life, impair your mental and emotional health, endanger your physical welfare, and complicate your relationships.

2. Sex is merely a sport for pleasure, thus omitting the need for commitment or relationship.

Because pop culture neither knows nor esteems God’s standards, it purports a primitive and narcissistic handling of sexuality. There is nothing more than physical pleasure to be found there. If we do not align our sexuality with the authority of Scripture, then the power that sex holds in biblical context is uprooted. It becomes a barbaric act or a self-serving conquest. As Owen Strachan so eloquently conveys, “Hookup culture guts sex of meaning; biblical teaching makes sense of the passion and connection sex yields.”

3. Monogamy is outdated.

Black and white movies from decades prior present an elegant picture of family and marriage. Life was orderly, true love was present and active, and monogamy was esteemed as the best course of action for the health and well-being of the relationship and family. Marriage vows meant something. Long gone are those days.

In a culture that widely acts on their feelings and emotions, lacks self-control and integrity, consumes pornography in excess, thinks little of lying if it will benefit self, and finds contentment in empty conversation, monogamy becomes a lost art. If we do not value human life or respect our fellow man, if selfishness determines our decisions, and if dating apps and easy sex rule our exchanges with others, fidelity cannot be the norm. It won’t even seem logical.

4. It isn’t cheating if you aren’t caught.

Hollywood tries to convince us that adultery is a victimless crime. Flirtation is portrayed as a fun pastime, and if it leads to an emotional affair, you are justified in whatever follows. Looking out for yourself is most important and mutual attraction becomes the grounds from which adultery blossoms. If you can get away with having someone (or a few people) on the side, more power to you. It becomes almost a heroic feat, an intoxicating experience.

A wise person embarks on the dating and marital journey with regard for the law of sowing and reaping–understanding full well that even if you aren’t caught in the act of adultery, much has been lost already. You have sacrificed honesty, time, dignity, and self-respect to cater to the forbidden. You have risked your health and future, family and spouse, for the sake of pleasure. And you are the one who will ultimately lose in the long run.

5. Sex without intimacy is fulfilling.

Casual sex is impossible. A high five is casual. Waving hello is casual. Small talk is casual. Treating sex like a casual greeting doesn’t make it casual. It just makes you immature and selfish.” –Matt Walsh

The initial hype and excitement that casual sex appears to deliver blinds people to the rich and satisfying joy of sex that can only be had within the confines of marriage. The richest sexual fulfillment is the result of knowing and being known. It is to please and be pleased by a person you have gotten to know, and nothing compares to the depth and closeness that can be found there. To be fulfilled is to feel complete and this cannot happen without intimacy.

6. Porn is a useful guide to better your sex life.

Contrary to popular belief, pornography is not a helpful tool for guiding your sex life because it involves punishment and degradation instead of gentleness and respect. Pornography contains skewed, unhealthy, unrealistic, and, at times, even illegal or downright disturbing content. Pornography offers a grim commentary on the human body and sexual expression. It introduces the bizarre at the expense of the beautiful.

Some of the ideas, attractions, and interests that were formed through my use of it have concerned me at best and terrified me at worst. I’d caution anyone to steer clear of the voices in society that might accept or promote pornography as the guidebook for a thriving sex life.

7. Sex equals love.

Just as not all foods contain needed nutrients and not all friendships have depth, so too not all sex (by itself) equals love. Anything that deviates from God’s good design for human sexuality cannot produce genuine love because authentic love entails permanence and a steadfast commitment to one’s good. The hook-up culture practices neither.

 8. Sex makes or breaks a relationship.

Different facets of pop culture, such as film and music, argue the case that sex is the deciding factor in determining the health or happiness of a relationship. This is misleading. Relationships entail many aspects; sex is just one piece of the pie.

The Bible presents sex and humanity as multi-faceted. We are complex creatures made in God’s image. This is one proof that culture’s take on sexuality and human life falls short. We aren’t merely physical beings enamored by a physical experience.

When the mandates regarding sexuality in the Bible are adhered to, people flourish in the sexual relationship. Unfortunately, the culture lacks such depth and wisdom and cheap counterfeits reign.

9. It isn’t a sacred, respected gift.

The disintegration of a nation is evident when nudity is on display and sex can be had with no strings attached. The more precious something is to us, the more we ought to guard it from anything that takes away from its worth. With sex, however, this most intimate act is put on bold show and has little, if any, standards surrounding its use.

In a society that has gradually suffered the loss of morality and respect for others, people lack a proper reverence of sex. We have torn down the once stable foundation of sex within marriage and replaced it with innuendos or shameless pursuits that dirty and dismantle its intended purpose.

If we are to ever experience sex in its fullness as God intended, we must return to His design and shun anything that removes His blessing in this area of our lives.

10. An absence of restraint brings freedom.

This is a dangerous lie because unbridled indulgence will always cost you more than you think. Rules of any kind are in place for the protection and flourishing of the citizens at hand. To ignore or disregard them is to ask for trouble. An unrestrained life may feel liberating, as it brings many opportunities to cater to self. But we should never judge a situation by how much pleasure it will bring us in the moment or in that current season of our lives. We must think long-term and intentionally ponder where the choices we make today will lead us tomorrow. Are you willing to do so?

Moving past the lies

If you have found yourself caught up in believing one or more of these lies, be thankful that the first step toward change is identifying the problem. When we turn to God’s word to inform our decision-making and worldview, our vision is no longer clouded by the skewed ideas presented forth by the culture in which we reside.

By seeing a topic, person, circumstance, or situation from the lens of truth, we break free from the calamitous practices of a godless nation. We begin to learn the purpose and beauties of sex as God intended for the marriage bed. And there’s no safer or more meaningful context in which to spend your sexual energies!

How to Quit Porn: 6 Essential Steps

Monday, April 23, 2012 | Written by

how to quit porn 6 essential steps

You need to want to quit watching porn.

The first part to quitting porn is you really have to want to quit porn. You need to be sick and tired of porn and the sickness that it causes you in order to quit. If you are not committed, you will only be quitting untl the next time you look. Deep inside you have to want to stop.

You have to be willing to try a different way.

Secondly, you have to be willing to do things you haven’t done before. Seriously, if you keep quitting the same way, you’re likely to fail again. To quit, you have to give up what you’ve  been doing and do what you have to do.

You need to be brutally honest with another person.

Thirdly, you have to tell someone else about your struggle and desire to get free. This person may be a male friend, your wife, a person of clergy, a life coach, or a twelve step group person.  Somebody has to know the truth about your porn usage for you to get and stay free.

You need to get rid of all your porn.

Next, you have to do what I call “clean house.” You have to get rid of the porn you have. Throw away the discs, magazines, anything you have used as pornography, and make sure to dump and clean out your computer. This is just a start, some you have to clean house regularly.

You also need to block porn from coming in.

The next step is you have to block entry points. This means have a porn blocker and accountability software like Covenant Eyes on your phone, computer at home, and at the office. If you have people sending you compromising e-mails, block them. Unsubscribe from porn websites. You may have to decide if credit cards are a problem. You know how porn is coming into your life. If you had a gun to your head you could block entry points in a minute.

You need a friend to help you stay on track.

Finally, get accountable to a man on a daily basis about your porn usage. Make a call a day and a commitment to call this person before you even consider looking at porn. People who set consequences for porn relapse do better. Seriously, if you look at porn, set a consequence. Some guys run laps, give money to the political party they don’t vote for, do leg lunges for a half mile, give up some privilege or just pick up trash on the highway for a few hours.

A porn-free life is a better life.

You have to decide that you are worth living porn free. I decided that almost 25 years ago and just passed a polygraph verifying my freedom. I believe you’re worth it but your behavior will show you if you are. Don’t believe your words. Believe only your behaviors; otherwise, you can be in denial as to your commitment to being porn free.

One of the most effective tools to quit porn–that helps with four of these six steps–is Covenant Eyes Internet Accountability and Filtering. Not only does it block porn before it gets to you, it also provides a weekly report of your Internet use to a trusted friend (forcing you to be brutally honest), making it easier than ever for you to have the open and honest relationship needed to beat your porn addiction.

Remember, you are not the only one being affected if you are married or want to be married. She is in pain because of your porn usage. Your children are being affected as well. They deserve the best man you can be. You decide. Do they get the porn-drunk you or the porn-free you? I recommend the porn-free you. It’s the better you.

To learn more about how porn affects your brain and to get more tips on how to quit porn for good, download the free e-book The Porn Circuit.
